  Mrs. Austin – Principal

Dear Parents,

November is the time of year when we tend to express our gratitude for all the good things that surround us. I am certainly thankful for our wonderful school and the dedicated staff who make magic happen every day. I am thankful for our PTO, community members, and children who bring smiles to our faces and inspire us to keep that magic alive. I am thankful for the many challenges with leading this school and striving to make a difference every day. I am also thankful for you. Parents play a vital role in the success of children. Thank you for reading with your children, checking homework, participating in Got 10? and instilling the value of making good choices. Our kids will continue to be successful and reach new heights because of the support at home and at school.

Since we are in the business of children, safety must always be a priority for our school. At the beginning of the year, we sent home information regarding the procedures for dropping off students who are car riders or walkers. Please review this information so that we can keep everyone safe. We have a very specific area, complete with adult supervision, where students are to be dropped off. We are finding that some parents are by-passing the drop off area, which is located near the Activity Room, and are dropping children off at the main entrance. This is a potential safety problem since all buses and visiting cars pass in front of the school. Please give us a hand and use the designated drop off area.

In addition, we will continue the process of signing in and showing identification in the front lobby. We encourage volunteers and welcome you into our classrooms. However, we do ask that you refrain from visiting the classroom to ask teachers questions or “conference” with them during the instructional day. We are happy to schedule these appointments so they will not interrupt instructional time. Thanks for your help.

November promises to be a busy month with several activities planned. Please mark your calendars for our first “White Tiger Run” which will be held next Sunday, November 8th right here at Barrett. We also have Family Bingo scheduled for Thursday, November 12th from 6:30-8:00. We also Parent Conference scheduled for November 17th and 18th. Just a reminder that all parents need to come in for the first parent conferences in order to receive their child’s report card.

We encourage you to enjoy and participate in the many activities that will be happening in November. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!

Remember, “IT’S ALL ABOUT OUR KIDS”,
