GOT 10 minutes?

Here are activities our Barrett Parents can do at home to partnership with the Barrett School Team this year.

Parents of Kindergartners: Practice at home: letter sounds, writing letters and numbers
First Grade Parents: Listen to your young reader read aloud to you every night after going over your GOT 10 packet
Second Grade Parents: Practice makes perfect in developing handwriting skills
Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade Parents: Review Math lessons and study for upcoming tests during the week.

Perfect times to practice GOT 10:

Preparing dinner
Waiting on your child's game to start
Household chores (laundry, dishes, etc.)
Waiting at the carwash

Remember to take your GOT 10 packet with you where ever you go!!

Governor's Nutrition and Physical Activity Award Program
promotes health and wellness in Virginia's public schools by encouraging good nutrition and increased physical activity. Schools earn either a bronze, silver, or gold award for best practices that promote healthy lifestyles while combating childhood obesity, hypertension, and other preventable diseases. This interactive scorecard allows schools to measure their progress and receive recognition for their success in meeting the goals of the Governor's Healthy Virginians initiative

In order to meet the criteria for the “Governor’s Nutrition and Physical Activity Scorecard”, a program in which KWBES is now participating, we are requesting your support in our efforts with this program by no longer bringing fast food and sodas in to our students during lunch.
